A number of driven individuals are to be given credit for preparing the logistics and compiling the information for this unique travel guide. Students involved in the History Society at Penn State Altoona penned and edited many of the sections within this booklet. They include Gary Brown, Mark Frederick, Kristen Hughes, and Colin McConville. Immense thanks is also due to Dr. Darin Zimmerman-the associate dean for research at Penn State Altoona--along with his committee members, who generously provided the necessary funds for this worthy project via the university's Community-Based Project Grant.
Mark Ickes and Jennifer Fleck with Explore Altoona have been instrumental in the process of promoting this book. Also worthy of recognition are all of those who operate the sites included in this booklet. Their willingness to participate in this experiment speaks of their enthusiasm to share the rich stories of regional history with broad audiences. This project is dedicated to them.
