The Blair County Historical Society will sponsor a historical and architectural bus tour of the Broad Avenue Historic District on Sunday, September 8, 2024. The route will begin at Union Avenue at the railroad culvert near 19th Street and then along Broad Avenue to 32nd Street. Included will be homes, churches, and commercial structures built from the 1890s to 1930. A tour booklet of illustrations will be included which will have photographs of the original buildings as well as how they appear today or what replaced them. Homes of the famous Altoona “Golden Age” architects, the Beezer brothers, and Charles Morrison Robinson will be featured. The tour will be guided by Dr. Michael G. Farrow.
The bus will leave Baker Mansion at 1:00 pm. Seating is limited to 25. The $40.00 payment may be made on the Blair County Historical Society website, www.blairhistory.org, by paying via PayPal or credit card. Receipt of payment will serve as the reservation on a first come basis.
Tickets for the bus tour are $40.00 per person, and seating is strictly limited to 25.
