ROUND-TRIP DAY BUS TRIP TO MIFFLINBURG CHRISTKINDL MARKET (Special Historical Presentation & Background included)
In Germany & much of Europe, the Christkind (Christ-child) brings the gifts to children (young & old) ... and the day of its arrival is mostly December 24, Christmas Eve.
Join us as we travel to “Christkindl Market,” Mifflinburg’s version of the legendary German Christmas Markets (Weihnachtsmärkte) in Nürnberg (Nuremberg), Rothenburg, Würzburg, and cities/towns all over Bavaria & Germany.
The air is filled with the enticing aroma of freshly baked Weihnachts-Stollen (Christmas fruit-cake), Lebkuchen (gingerbread) Apfel-Strudel, hot chocolate, German Bratwurst, goulash, gourmet coffees, and the traditional German Glühwein (hot spiced wine).
The leitmotiv, or recurring theme, in each year's Market is a tradition that is unique to the Mifflinburg Christkindl Market. The leitmotiv features a story or culturally significant icon from a featured city in Germany or Austria. After 2022's theme/city Munich ... this year's theme is: "Traditions of the Erzgebirge" -Traditions of the Ore Mountain Range- and specifically Mifflinburg's sister city of Seiffen in the state of Saxony, Germany. ___________
